Why swearing is effing brilliant! Do you ever accidently stub your toe? Or even really struggle to open a jar of gherkins? The only words to properly express your anger is through swearing right? Shouting “F**K” to the top of your lungs until you finally get a real grip of that jar. You’re an American and you don’t know it! Football or soccer? Sweets or candy? Trainers or sneakers? Pants or trousers? Is your life becoming Americanised? We commonly notice, as English people, the American language slowly creeping into our vocabulary, letter by letter, attempting to prove us wrong on whether colour is spelt color, without the U. it’s just wrong, so stop it! The slight differences between British English and American English are very refreshing and should not be changed or try to overcome the other. Clearly English people are unfamiliar with leaving other countries words alone*cough* *cough. * The division between the both help distinguish who we are and what other people are most likely going to think of us. Analytical piece Police appeal The text is describing what happened in a recent incident of crime it shows clear and formal language throughout. With brief explanation of what happened in the incident. Grammar is used effectively throughout the whole text, it’s very blunt and formal grammar, with limited punctuation. Providing the idea that the author wants the text to be straight to the point. The description of the incident is very brief and mainly factual; however, the text does show post modification when saying that it was “four men of oriental appearance “This description is used to inform the reader and provide them with an image of whom the robbers may be. This is included in the text to keep the people safe, as they know what to look out for, but also to help the police have a closer chance of catching the robbers.
